Backups and restores

Elestio offers a BORG Backup section specifically for managing backups.
For clusters, only the backups of the Primary node are supported.
If you want to promote a new node to PrimaryPrimary, ina new BORG backup will automatically be created for security purposes, ensuring a healthy backup of your cluster,cluster. followFrom thesethat steps:point, new backups will target the new Primary.

 

Backups

Backups are created automatically once per day, but you can also create them manually.

To create a manual backup:

1. Go to the NodesBackups tab.tab of your cluster.

In the Automated Remote Backups (BORG) section, click the + button to expand the section. Click on the PromoteBack Up Now button withto thecreate arrowa iconnew nextBORG backup.

Restores

To restore a BORG backup:

Go to the nodeBackups tab of your cluster. Click the + button to display the list of your backups. Find the backup you wish to promote.restore and click the Restore button (with a rounded arrow icon).

A confirmation popup will appear, asking if you really wantappear to promoteconfirm thisthat node.the restore process is in progress.

During Ifthe yourestoration confirm,process, ayour health checkcluster will be processedtemporarily before the promotion process begins:

If the node is not healthyunavailable, another popup will appear, warning you that the node cannot be promoted. If the node is healthy,as the following stepsactions will occur:take place:

1. The selectedPrimary node will be reconfigured as the Primary node.restored.
2. All other nodesReplicas will be reconfigured asin the following manner:
3. Replicas, pointingwill be reset from scratch.

Once cleared and reconfigured to point to the newPrimary, Primary.each Replica will be restored with a backup directly from the Primary node to ensure they are fully synchronized.

Once the process is complete, a BORG backupyou will bereceive automaticallyan createdemail withnotifying theyou newthat Primary.

your cluster is active and operational again.
